The direction of the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, MTIC, is cantered on Wawasan Brunei 2035, particularly through involvement in the implementation of the Manpower Blueprint, Social Blueprint and Economic Blueprint, with MTIC playing a role as a facilitator for the development of human capital, digital ecosystem, connectivity and logistics services. The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications emphasised this at the Goodwill Meeting Session of the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications with Members of the Legislative Council for 2026, 29th January morning. It was held at the Ministry's Dewan Amar Pahlawan.

 

Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha also summarised the progress of MTIC throughout 2025, including aspects of transport and cyber security, digitalisation of services, modernisation of maritime systems, as well as the implementation of initiatives that contribute to the economy and increase national revenue. Yang Berhormat also shared the progress of projects under the 12th National Development Plan under MTIC, and the status of public transport service projects. Also introduced was the new Strategic Plan of Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications for the next five years, taking into account all achievements, challenges and lessons learned from the implementation of the previous strategic plan.

 

Yang Berhormat officiated the Strategic Plan of Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications for 2026 to 2030, namely MTIC 2030.

 

Meanwhile, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Daud bin Jihan, Head of the Legislative Council Delegation to the session, in his response, welcomed the aspirations and strategic focus outlined specifically in efforts to improve service efficiency, utilise technology and ensure sustainable and inclusive development, believing that the strategic plan would be an important guide in strengthening service delivery and a cornerstone of national development.
