Brunei Darussalam is currently in the first phase of the Northeast Monsoon, also known as the rainy season. During this period, the country typically experiences unstable weather conditions, with occasional heavy showers or thundershowers.

Active weather conditions are expected, starting on the 29th of January, until Thursday, 5th of February. Showers, occasionally heavy and thundery are expected to affect several areas of the country: with wind gust of up to 50 kilometres per hour during or near heavy and thundery showers. Over Brunei waters, sea conditions are generally at slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging between 0.5 and 1.5 meters.
