Following the announcement of urgent transmission pipe repair works at Kampung Batang Mitus due to landslides, the Ministry of Development shared the latest updates on the pipe re-connection. Currently, the Department of Water Services is actively working to complete the installation of two new 50-metre pipes to replace the old pipes damaged by landslide. The transmission pipe supplies water from Bukit Barun Treatment Plant Stages 4 and 5 to much of the areas in the Brunei Muara District which are currently experiencing water supply disruption. The Permanent Secretary for Planning, Land Use and Environment at the Ministry of Development explained that the works will take approximately 3 to 4 days due to re-connection of 16 identified sections of the pipeline.
According to Doctor Dayang Nor Imtihan binti Hj Abd Razak, so far, 8 pipelines have been connected. The public can contact Talian Darussalam 123 for water tanker request or collect water from blue water tanks provided at selected areas as stated by the Public Works Department, PWD's Instagram. The department also provides standpipes and jerry cans for the public at several areas, namely Lambak and Salambigar Industry, Kampung Serdang Mosque; Lugu National Housing Scheme; and Kampung Sengkurong Mosque. Additional standpipes will be set up at Setia Ali Mosque; Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Mariam Mosque; and Sharif Ali Mosque. The public's cooperation and patience are highly appreciated, and the department will strive to expedite the pipe re-connection process.
