The Islamic Financial Literacy Day raises awareness and understanding on the importance of Islamic financial literacy among university staff and the community, in line with Syariah principles and sustainable economic development. Organised by Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA through the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance, the inauguration ceremony took place at the UNISSA Campus in Gadong, 4th February morning.
It was officiated by Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA. Held until the 5th February, the programme features informative exhibitions from various Islamic financial institutions with interests in the Islamic Finance ecosystem in the country, as well as food and beverage sales activities. The programme provides early exposure to the younger generation, especially at secondary and university levels, on the importance of ensuring that the development of the Islamic finance industry is in line with the need to produce knowledgeable, skilled and competitive human capital.
