The Malay Islamic Monarchy philosophy reflects how longstanding spiritual traditions continue to guide modern governance, culture, and society. The High Commissioner of Canada to Brunei Darussalam stated the matter at a public talk titled "An Exploration of Islam's Journey to Brunei Darussalam." Organised by the High Commission of Canada in Brunei Darussalam with the support of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD, it was held at 'Ruang Bicara Minda,' UBD Library, 13th February morning.

His Excellency Doctor Tamer Mansy, High Commissioner of Canada to the country also emphasised that the philosophy is also essential for fostering mutual respect and strengthening international partnerships. Delivered by Doctor Haji Md Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Md Yunos, the talk among other things touched on Brunei's historic role in the regional spread of Islam and its significance within Southeast Asian history. Approximately 60 participants attended the event.
