The capital witnessed the Giant-sized National Flag Hoisting Ceremony, marking the start of the 42nd National Day Celebration. The Celebration's Executive Committee held the ceremony at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex Open Area in the capital, 14th February morning.

Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The flag hoisting ceremony was officiated by personnel of the Royal Brunei Navy and National Flag Hoisting Team. The reading of the National Day Pledge involved 42 participants, followed by the three-time call of the takbir. The ceremony was further enlivened with two patriotic songs.

With the national flag hoisting, all citizens and residents of the country are to hoist the flag to enliven the Celebration until the 25th of February.
