12 shots of the cannon were fired in the capital, 18th February afternoon, as a way to enliven the coming of Ramadhan. The shots of the cannon is a tradition in Brunei Darussalam to celebrate the arrival of Ramadhan which is filled with blessings.

The shots of the cannon were fired at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien by Military Police personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF. Muslims across the country will perform the Sunat Tarawih Prayer at mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide. The arrival of this holy month is hoped to continue to instil the spirit to increase acts of worship, strengthen faith and maintain unity among the community.
