The Opening Ceremony of the Tadarus Al-Qur'an throughout Ramadhan took place at the Surau of Istana Nurul Iman, 19th February night. The event began with Fardhu Isyak Prayer and Sunat Tarawih; followed by Tazkirah titled 'Hidupkan Bulan Ramadhan dengan Asmaul Husna: Ar-Rahman (Yang Maha Pemurah)' and, Tadarus Al-Qur'an.

Present were Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; and, Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Sulaiman bin Alidin, Commissioner of Police, Royal Brunei Police Force. A similar ceremony was also held for female congregants in a separate room at Istana Nurul Iman. The Tadarus was attended by over 8 hundred uniformed personnel comprising the RBAF; RBPF; Department of Immigration and National Registration: Prison Department; Royal Customs and Excise Department; Fire and Rescue Department; as well as officers and Religious Teachers at the Islamic Studies Department.
