The young generation as future leaders need to study and understand the country's history in achieving independence. The Minister of Religious Affairs, explained that it is important to be studied either formally or informally. Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, explained this at the Semarak Hari Kebangsaan Ceremony in conjunction with the 42nd Brunei Darussalam National Day organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Jointly organised by the Islamic Da'wah Centre, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, as well as the policy and Strategic Division and Syarie Prosecutors Division, Ministry of Religious Affairs, the ceremony took place at the International Convention Centre, Berakas, 28th February morning.
The culmination of the ceremony was a National Day Talk Session titled, "Mempertahankan Kedaulatan Negara: Menelusuri Era Lindungan British dan Pembentukan Jati Diri Brunei" by Doctor Haji Mohd. Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd. Yunos, President of the Brunei History Association. Such a ceremony reflects the Ministry of Religious Affairs' commitment in strengthening understanding on the country's history and cultivate the patriotic spirit as well as love of the people to the country.
