In the Motion for Royal Speech, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs touched on the role of the Legislative Council in line with its purpose as a meeting instrument.

According to the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Legislative Council is the instrument of national debate in its modern era that remains with its Islamic Bruneian nature, remains wise and proven to be useful in saving Brunei even though the history of its current territorial existence is like a fingertip, but it has survived and the people are still cared for.
