Strong bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of Bangladesh are based on mutual respect, trust and cultural similarities. The High Commissioner of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the country stated the matter at a reception to celebrate the 56th Independence and National Day of Bangladesh. It took place at a hotel in Gadong, 26th March night.

Representing the government of His Majesty at the reception was Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education. Her Excellency Naureen Ahsan also shared Bangladesh's commitment to deepening cooperation with Brunei Darussalam across various sectors.
