Digital transformation and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) are practical requirements in improving the efficiency of the health system. It can support health professionals by reducing administrative burdens, improving the quality of documentation, and supporting clinical decisions. While attending the Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference 2026 in Beijing, People's Republic of China, the Minister Of Health emphasised that at the system level, data analysis can provide a clearer picture of population health trends and can guide more effective policy interventions.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar also emphasised the importance of international cooperation, particularly with institutions and health technology partners from the People's Republic of China, in the areas of A-I governance, data handling and research, and Brunei Darussalam's commitment to work with global partners in developing a more resilient, equitable and sustainable health system. With the theme "Comprehensive Integration between Technological Innovation and Industry", the forum that took place was a global, comprehensive, open and high-level international event with a mission to enhance global innovation in science and technology.
While in Beijing, the Minister of Health also paid courtesy calls to His Excellency Doctor Lei Haichao, Minister of the National Health Commission, and His Excellency Yin Yong, Mayor of Beijing, to discuss mutual interests and explore cooperative relationships, particularly in the fields of digital innovation and health technology, as well as in the fields of research and exchange and training programmes for health professionals.
The Minister of Health also held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia to discuss and exchange views on the development of the health sector and signed renewed Memorandum of Understanding, MOU in several health fields. The Brunei Darussalam delegation also held a working visit programme to several recognized health institutions as one of the best in the People's Republic of China and excellent at the international level to facilitate the exchange of experiences related to AI healthcare, digital health development and health governance.
The participation of Brunei Darussalam delegation in the forums, meetings and visits is hoped to open up opportunities to explore potential strategic cooperation besides building networks with institutions and stakeholders at the international level that have the potential to contribute to the development of technology and strengthening of the country's systems.
