The Launching of Al-Qur'an Reading for the 80 times Khatam Al-Qur'an Ceremony by Members of the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils, Students from Schools and Higher Education Institutions Nationwide in conjunction with the 80th Birthday Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was held on 2nd April afternoon. Joined by one thousand 708 participants, the ceremony was held simultaneously in all districts. In Brunei Muara District, it took place at Jame' Asr' Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampung Kiarong.

Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs; Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education; and Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs. The ceremony expressed gratitude for Allah's blessings in making Brunei Darussalam peaceful and prosperous under His Majesty's leadership.
