A more dynamic management of waqaf and zakat or tithe assets is necessary for the well-being of the Muslim community in Brunei Darussalam. Speaking at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration and Appreciation Ceremony for the Badan Tanmiah Harta Majlis Ugama Islam and its subsidiary, Badan Tanmiah Petrol Station, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, expressed hope that with the expertise of the Islamic Religious Council of Brunei, who come from financial and banking backgrounds, the management of tithe and waqaf would become more systematic, professional, and effective.

Also held was the souvenirs presentation to former members of the Board of Directors of BTHMUI, as well as certificates of appreciation to officers and staff who have served for 30, 25, 20, 15, and 10 years, as recognition of their contributions. The ceremony took place at the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, 7th April morning.
