The Prime Minister of Australia and his delegation began their working visit to the Brunei-Australia Memorial at Muara Beach, 14th April afternoon. The arrival of The Honourable Anthony Albanese M-P was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence.
Accompanying the Australian Prime Minister was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as Minister-in Attendance. The monument was built to commemorate the contribution of the Australian Defence Forces to the successful liberation of Borneo during Operation OBOE in the Second World War. It marks the beginning of defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and Australia.
