The Enforcement Unit, Tutong District Office reminds the public, companies and business owners, to always maintain environmental cleanliness, especially in business premises and public areas by not throwing, piling or leaving any type of rubbish. Action will be taken against any parties found guilty under the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Chapter 30, Section 12-1.
The reminder was made after a company, VAITHI AUTOMOBILE SERVICES Sendirian berhad was fined $4,000 BND, for using government land as a place to dump and pile up garbage without permission. The company was ordered to clean up and pay the compound fine within 7 days. If in default, the company will be brought to court and if convicted, will be fined not less than $30,000 BND OR imprisonment of not more than 12 months OR BOTH. The compound was issued during 'Operasi Bersih' targetting the Kampung Mulaut Area. The operation involved the Licensing and Enforcement Division of the Brunei Muara District Office.
Meanwhile, TERATAI Mekar Sendirian Berhad in Kampung Sengkarai, Tutong District was issued a compound fine of $1,000 BND for the offence of throwing vegetable waste into drains in public places. If the company fails to pay the fine within seven days, the case will be taken to court. The compound was the result of a routine inspection by the Tutong District Office.
