Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of China reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthen bilateral economic and trade cooperation at the 6th Brunei Darussalam – People's Republic of China Consultation Meeting on Trade, Investment and Economic Cooperation. The Meeting held at a hotel in the capital also provided an opportunity to exchange views on cooperation under regional frameworks and initiatives, including ASEAN-China relations, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, APEC, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, and the BIMP-EAGA-China cooperation.
Chairing the meeting were, Doctor Dayang Hajah May Fa'ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary for Economy, Trade and Industry at the Ministry of Finance and Economy; and His Excellency Yan Dong, Member of the CPC Leadership Group of the Ministry of Commerce and Vice Minister of Commerce of the People's Republic of China.
During the Meeting, both sides reviewed and agreed to build on the positive developments of bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas.
Also highlighted were greater access for Bruneian premium and niche products to the Chinese market, stronger participation of micro, small and medium enterprises in trade fairs like the China-ASEAN Expo and China International Import Expo.
