Brunei Darussalam reaffirmed its warm diplomatic ties with the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, which have continued to strengthen since 2002. The Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy explained that the country is highlighting strong opportunities for businesses, especially SMEs, to expand partnerships, grow beyond domestic markets, and play a bigger role in regional value chains. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah stressed these matters during the Brunei-Timor Leste Business Engagement held in Jerudong, 5th May morning.
Meanwhile, His Excellency Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, Vice Prime Minister ONE, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, in his keynote speech expressed gratitude to Brunei Darussalam and fellow ASEAN members for their continued support, particularly in advancing Timor-Leste's full membership in the regional bloc. Also held was a business dialogue session on identifying new areas of cooperation and strengthening economic ties between the two nations. The event concluded with the Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Health Care sector as well as Development and Cooperation between Stratacom Global and the Vice Prime Ministers of Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
