The 15th Session of the General Conference of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) that was held recently in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation, brought together Member States to deliberate on strategic directions, review the Organization's programmes and achievements, and endorse future initiatives in the fields of education, science, culture, and communication.
Representing Brunei Darussalam was the Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, Ministry of Education, as the representative of the Minister of Education and Chair for the National Commission of Brunei Darussalam for ICESCO. In his statement, Dcotor Haji Azman bin Ahmad highlighted the alignment between the Strategic Action Plan and Brunei Darussalam's national development priorities, particularly in advancing future-ready education, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, cultural preservation, youth development and social inclusion. These shared priorities reflect Brunei Darussalam and ICESCO's aspiration to nurture resilient, innovative, and values-driven societies.
In addition, Doctor Haji Azman also attended the Opening Ceremony of the 'Kazan – Cultural Capital of the Islamic World 2026' at the Kazan International Exhibition Centre.
