Psychosocial risks such as excessive workload, workplace harassment, prolonged stress and role ambiguity can have a negative impact on workers' judgment, performance and safety. Therefore, the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and the Second Minister of Defence stressed the importance of recognising mental well-being as an important component of occupational safety and health, in addition to the need for employers and organisations to create a respectful, supportive and psychologically safe work environment. In his opening speech at the Opening of the 2026 Safety Forum, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, who is also the Minister Responsible for the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority, SHENA, also emphasised that strengthening psychosocial resilience in the workplace is important towards achieving a resilient and high-quality workforce, in line with Wawasan Brunei 2035.

Yang Berhormat said risk management is strategic investment and organisations that prioritise occupational safety and health holistically will usually gain significant returns through a decrease in the rate of employee absenteeism as well as improvement in productivity. However, neglecting risks will cause operation instability and financial disruptions.

The forum included keynote presentations touching on emotional resilience and leadership in the workplace. Gathering more than 200 participants from various parties, the forum served as a platform for dialogue and knowledge sharing on mental well-being in the workplace, leadership responsibilities, psychosocial risk management, and organisational resilience. Also held was an exhibition that highlighted various initiatives related to safety, health, and psychosocial well-being in the workplace.
