Towards increasing climate literacy among the community and as a useful reference in supporting more effective planning and decision-making processes, Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, on 25th May morning launched the Brunei Darussalam Climate Book in conjunction with World Meteorological Day 2026.
The launching was officiated by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. The Book describes the country's weather patterns and climate characteristics, including seasonal variations and the main factors that influence the climate, in addition to highlighting climate change trends that have been observed in the country through simple and easy-to-understand visual illustrations.
A new Strategic Plan for the five-year period, 2026 to 2030, known as 'Meteorology 2030', was also introduced, which will serve as a guiding principle in strengthening the country's meteorological and climate services in a more resilient, innovative and high-impact manner. The World Meteorological Day is celebrated every 23 March and this year carries the theme "Observing Today, Protecting Tomorrow".
