The rites of sacrifice brings many benefits including reminding Muslims on obedience and sacrifice, purifying themselves and their property, and strengthening relations through the distribution of sacrificial meat to the poor and destitute. Various parties in the country did not miss the opportunity to hold the rites of sacrifice. The Az-Zakireen Mosque Takmir Committee, Meragang, held such a ceremony at said mosque, 28th May afternoon.
13 buffaloes and 1 cow were sacrificed. The distribution of sacrificial meat to 92 participants, comprising the Takmir Committee, Mosque congregants and the public, was presented by Awang Haji Mohd Yusra bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 45 poor and destitute asnaf from areas 1 and 2 of the Meragang National Housing Scheme also received sacrificial meat.
The Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque Takmir Committee, Mukim Kilanas also held a similar ceremony. 53 poor and destitute asnaf and the public received sacrificial meat. 3 buffaloes were sacrificed this year.
Meanwhile in Tutong District, Kampung Menengah Mosque Takmir Committee in collaboration with the Consultative Councils of Kampung Bukit Sulang, Menengah and Panchong sacrificed 3 buffaloes.
The rites of sacrifice were also held at several mosques in Temburong District. The ceremony, which was attended by villagers, mosque takmir committees and volunteers, is hoped to strengthen unity of the ummah.
