National

Lack of religious knowledge and internalising Islamic teachings, following one's desire, life pressures and socio-economic problems are among the factors that drive a person to become involved in gambling. Gambling is haram or prohibited whether through games, entertainment, or any form of medium that involves betting. This was among the content of the Friday Sermon titled 'Gambling: Concealed Behind Entertainment."

Among the negative effects of gambling on individuals and the society are deterioration of morals and dignity; sow resentment and enmity; neglect responsibilities to Allah; burdened with debt and financial issues; and deviation of faith. Indeed, gambling may appear easy, enjoyable, and promising of quick returns, but in the end, it leads to regret, addiction, debt, conflict, the breakdown of families, and the loss of blessings in life.
