Architecture as a medium for shaping life values and its importance in Islam were among the things emphasised during the second and third panel sessions of the Islamic Architecture Symposium 2026. The session took place at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

 

Present was Awang Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Policy and Religion at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. With the theme "Sustainability as a Trust - Reshaping Sustainability", the second session among other things touched on how architecture not only meets the needs of political and moral theories, but also functions as a medium for the formation of values, inner well-being and harmony in life.

 

Meanwhile, the third panel session highlighted the topic '"Built Expression: A Case Study of Legacy Life". Present was Awang Aliudin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Core Education at the Ministry of Education. The session discussed the importance of Islamic architecture and the implementation of the Mosque Construction Guidelines; as well as the emphasis on the concept of Barakah in construction.
