In an effort to glorify the culture of reading Al-Quran and producing a generation of Al-Quran literate who hold fast to Islamic teachings, the practice of reading the Quran is nurtured among students from the beginning of religious schooling until the completion of the recitation of the 30 juzuk of Al-Quran at the Primary SIX level. On 16th June afrernoon, International Religious School Brunei held a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony for 43 Standard 6 pupils of the school. It took place at a hotel in Gadong.

Present was Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Safiah binti Sheikh Haji Abdul Salam, Member of the Legislative COUNCIL. The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by the reading of surah lazim by the khatam participants. Apart from acting as a platform to promote love for Al-Quran, such a ceremony plays an important role in cultivating the culture of reading Al-Quran among the younger generation in line with the aspirations of a Zikir Nation.
