Islamic economy is not simply about halal products or Syariah-compliant finance, its significance lies in the principles that underpin it namely fairness, responsible stewardship, inclusion and sustainability. The Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry underlined the need to build a truly integrated ecosystem, one that connects halal industries, Islamic finance, technology, talent and market opportunity in a coherent and mutually reinforcing way.  Speaking at the Brunei Islamic Economy Conference or BIE-CON 2026, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin as Chairperson of the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank, BDCB emphasised on advancing advance our Islamic capital market ecosystem, fostering innovation, and developing a skilled workforce to support a more integrated, resilient, and future-ready Islamic economy. The ceremony took place in Anggerek Desa, 24th June morning.

 

The two-day conference features high-level discussions, presentations and strategic panel session comprising various themes pertaining to Islamic economy, halal industry, Islamic finance, sustainability, technology, and regional economic opportunities. The conference is organised by the Brunei Institute of Leadership and Islamic Finance, BILIF with the support of BDCB, and in partnership with the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, Brunei Economic Development Board, and Track and Roll Sendirian Berhad.
