The Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Qur'an Institute not only plays a role in producing huffaz or Al-Qur'an memorisers but must also continue to expand research, strengthen teaching and learning methods, and contribute to the development of policies and best practises for tahfiz education in the country. This was highlighted by the Minister of Religious Affairs at the opening ceremony of the 2nd Tahfiz Al-Qur'an Education Symposium, held at Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, 30th June morning.

In his opening speech, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan also shared that the symposium is important as it is not just a knowledge event, but rather a platform to express the role and contribution of the institute in supporting the country's aspirations as a Zikir Nation based on the Malay Islamic Monarchy philosophy.

The Minister said that Tahfiz education is part of the development of the country's human capital. The huffaz must not only be strong in their memorization and good at reading, but also knowledgeable, skilled, moral, capable of thinking, able to adapt to current changes and willing to contribute to society and the country.

The event included a video screening and a presentation session by the First Keynote Speaker from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia Lecturers. With the theme “Tahfiz Al-Qur'an Education: Innovation in the Era of Technology", the symposium is a continuation of the success of the first event in 2024. It emphasises the development of tahfiz education that is progressive, innovative and in line with current technological developments.
