02/07/2026  Drug Runner Arrested During 'Operasi Mule'

National

The Narcotics Control Bureau, NCB continued "Operasi Mule" through a series of raids conducted between the 19th and 24th of June, targeting individuals involved in drug distribution activities conducted by the operation's mastermind.

This follow-up operation resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals comprising local citizens aged between 29 and 67 and the seizure of 19 point 83 grammes of Syabu.

The NCB also seized drug packaging materials, such as small transparent plastic bags, cut straw sections, scissors, and digital scales as well as drug paraphernalia.

One of the arrested individuals, aged 53, was a key client of the Operasi Mule mastermind; he has been active in drug distribution for over 15 years and was previously sentenced to 20 years in prison and 15 strokes of whipping in 2002. Meanwhile, two other individuals arrested during this follow-up operation aged 28 and 29, served as "runners," offering services to smuggle drug supplies and other contraband into the country. Their activities were reportedly driven by the desire for easy supplemental income or financial reward. They will be investigated under Section 10 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27 for abetting offences under the said Act.

Every individual involved, whether as a distributor, or "runner", is part of a drug syndicate network that ruins lives, destroys family institutions, and threatens national security.

The NCB also emphasised that no individual involved in drug-related criminal activities will escape legal action, even if their role was merely that of a drug runner.
