The Inspire Karate Club contingent from Sabah emerged as the overall champions of the Rengokai Open Karate Championship 2022. The championship closed its curtain on 20th November afternoon, at the Youth Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan with the finals for all categories of men and women in the Kumite event.

 

Among the final matches that are in focus are the men's and women's under-21 categories. In the men's category, Alvin Tam from the Inspire Karate Club won the gold medal after defeating his teammate Steve Allen Alexius. The women's category also witnessed a match between 2 representatives from the Inspire Karate Club with Alyssa Tam winning the gold medal after defeating Esther Bell Siaw Tze Ling. The championship medals were presented by Awang Haji Mohd Rosfazillah bin Haji Yusly, Acting Deputy Director of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The Inspire Karate Club contingent from Sabah emerged as overall champions by collecting 9 gold, 12 silver and 6 bronze medals. Second place was the Shotokan Karate Brunei Darussalam Contingent collected 9 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze medals, while the Rengokai Karate Brunei Darussalam came in third with 4 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze.
