The One Village One Product, 1K1P Expo is established as a platform for 1K1P entrepreneurs in Brunei Darussalam to promote and widen their products' market reach directly to buyers. The expo gathers all 1K1P products from the four districts which are sold at a public-focused location to facilitate members of the public to view, taste and acquire the products directly from the entrepreneurs involved. The expo, organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs, coincided with the launch of the new Brunei Darussalam 1K1P logo. The expo was launched by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar Bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs.

 

Awang Haji Muhammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs as the Chairman of the launching committee for the 1K1P Brunei Darussalam EXPO 2017, in his speech said that the involvement of entrepreneurs from abroad provides an opportunity for local 1K1P entrepreneurs to share knowledge, skills and build their networking to improve the quality and marketing aspect of their products both within and outside the country.

 

Aside from the logo launch, the expo also focuses on promotional efforts and sales of the 1K1P products, a business matching session, as well as a seminar and talk to improve the knowledge and skills of 1K1P entrepreneurs by collaborating with the relevant government and private agencies as well as stakeholders. In view of this, the Ministry of Home Affairs has also collaborated with the Japanese Embassy to bring in an expert to share experience and efforts taken to improve the standard of living in Toyooka, Japan.

 

80 entrepreneurs from Mukim and Village Consultative Councils are taking part in the expo, which promotes the sale of food and handicraft products. 40 entrepreneurs from ASEAN member countries as well as Japan, China and Korea are also showcasing and selling products from their respective countries. Among those present were Legislative Council members, High Commissioners and Ambassadors of friendly nations to the country, Permanent Secretaries as well as Deputy Permanent Secretaries.
