Dialogue on Brunei's Forest Carbon Potential 2026Brunei Darussalam's forests play an important role in biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, water regulation and carbon storage, including within peat swamp and mangrove ecosystems. These natural assets are central to the country's national development priorities, and directly support commitments under the Brunei's National Forestry Policy, Paris Agreement, Brunei National Climate Change Policy and Wawasan Brunei 2035. In a speech at the official launching ceremony of A Dialogue on Brunei's Forest Carbon Potential 2026 - Identifying Enabling Conditions for Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism said the government views the development of forest-carbon market readiness as part of its broader national policy directions under the national forestry and biodiversity conservation strategies. Said initiative, according to Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, will therefore support ongoing efforts to enhance sustainable forest management, strengthen climate governance and advance a resilient and diversified economy.
